I bought the G6 to replace my G3 as my lightweight, bicycle camera. I am not impressed with the upgrade. The G3 is a good camera and I shoot Canon DSLRs so I wanted to stay in the Canon family for interchangeable batteries and flashes. My 2 big gripes are the horrible noise at ISO 400 (making 400 virtually useless) and the propensity for the mode dial to get moved out of position when removing the camera from the case. I try to keep it on P but frequently get Auto mode after pulling it out----sometimes I notice and sometimes I am in a hurry and do not. Very frustrating sine I shoot in RAW and Auto means jpg. It is also s l o w. Having said all that, I have some wonderfull daylight photos and it is light and small. Nevertheless, I am considering the Olympus 8080 for my bicycling camera.
