Took the FZ5 on holiday to Menorca and was really happy with results. Focusing is very fast and manual overides are good and usable. Image stabilisation works well and makes potentially blurry shots much less likely. I took some amazing shots of the stained glass in a church, low light, low shutter speed. The shots are very sharp.
Ths camera is LIGHT and brilliant for holidays, get a decent camera bag ( I got the LowPro Nova Mina AW because it also holds my Sony handicam and all cards etc.) My friend just got a 350D and was thinking of taking back to get one of these!
This a great camera to learn the basics of photography, I'll probably get a DSLR in 1-2 years

Problems:

Annoying that Pani didn't make the lens hood adapter with a metal thread. Not major issue but would have been handy if you are in habit of taking on and off filters
Lack of manual focus didn't matter at all to me, it's auto focus is great and very fast.
EVF could be higher res
