I've actually gone the opposite direction from most people and have sold my 20D to buy this. As soon as I held this camera I knew it was the one for me, it fits my hands like a glove, layout of controls makes handling fast and intuitive and image quality is every bit as good as the 20D. I had some reservations about the change as I'd actually upgraded to the 20D from the 300D, who's flaws now seem very obvious, but this camera has no such issues, it is a beautiful instrument and used with good lenses - I'm using the new Canon 10-22 for wide angle and the 100mm Macro for close up and portrait work - it delivers superb results. I intend to buy another one as a back up ASAP. I've given 5 for construction as the lip on the hand grip provides pretty solid stability, and am also taking into account it's price range. Absolutely no regrets about sacrificing the 20D for this.
Quick update 4.Feb.06. Bought the BG E3 battery grip, loved this camera before, and love it even more with the battery grip, whole new photographic tool, the additional weight, providing increased stability, is welcome, particularly when using the 10-22 lens with the 430EX speedlite. Also the BG has the facility to use 2 Canon NB-2LH batteries or to substitute these with AA's. Excellent feature. Traded in the 100mm EF for the 60mm EF-S, much more manageable and every bit as sharp.
Problems:
None so far other than I can't stop playing with it.
