Pros in a nutshell:
Strong image quality even in "auto" mode.
4x zoom lens.
Lots of manual controls.
Zoom-linked flash.
Small with good ergonomics - also very light.
Great battery life. (though see below)
Excellent resolution for a 4 MP chip.
Very easy to get to know - a great first camera for someone new to digital that needs an all-purpose digital camera.
Unbelieveably great value. Highly recommended.
Problems:
Cons:
Extremely slow flash recycle time.
Very noisy at ISO 400 - unusable. (A huge deal)
Build quality suspect. The last one I purchased as a gift fell apart within 3 weeks. Lens cover failed and battery life eroded down to a few pics with fresh batteries - had to send to Canon for service. Other A520 I've owned was much better, however, and others I know who own this camera have reported no such build issues.
