using this camera with the Sigma 18-50 f2.8.

it is really, really fast. that is the first thing that comes to my mind whenever i think of this camera. sometimes something interesting is happening while i had just turned it off and was putting it back in my bag. i still almost always get the shot.

also, noise performance is quite unbelievable. i can hardly detect any noise thru ISO800.

as for build quality, i think many are confusing BUILD quality with MATERIAL quality. build quality is excellent: it is really solid stuff. but material quality could be better: the plastics are not nice. heck, my previous G3 felt like it was made of better stuff.

Problems:

1. white balance doesn't work that great all the time. you can set it completely manually, in which case it's perfect. but the presets are not quite impressive.

2. many settings go through the menu. that's fine - actually easier to see than on a small LED screen. but not having dedicated buttons for functions is something i'm not used to. what i mean is, ISO is shared with "up direction", WB shared with "right direction" and so on. so if you want to set a few things at once, it's cumbersome because once you enter menu mode, the buttons no longer switch from ISO to WB (for example) but instead move "up" or "right" within the menu system.
