Good color balance, even with challenging conditions, like lots of snow, interior of yurt with bright outdoors, and night shots. Very little level / brightness adjustments necessary. Focus is snappy with little hunting, and camera is ready to shoot quickly after pressing the power button.
Camera seems tolerant of moisture / snow.
Movie mode impressed me with an amazing at 640x 480 with audio. The memory stick pro format seems decent, both available and cheap ($49 for 1Gb).
Very compact. Everything works well. Controls seem simple / intuitive, even though my last / only other camera was a different brand, a Pentax. 31mm wideangle is good for my uses, though 28 or 24 would be better. I don't see what is meant by other reviews noting cheap construction. Everything seems solid and sturdy on my camera, no rattling or cheap looking buttons.
Problems:
Only clue that batteries are dead, when they are dead, is that camera says "access", then turns off (batt meter is on screen so you can't see it till it is on)
