I've had the R4 for a week, so these are just early impressions. The camera is small
and light, and a bit too smooth - easy to slip out of your hands. (I've got the black
version). Heed the previous reviewer's advice to use the wrist strap! Use is easy and
intuitive, even navigating deep into the options menus is no problem. Shoot button
action is great: easy to do the preliminary focus etc. without actually shooting, yet
also easy and smooth to depress fully once you're ready. Power-on, focusing,
zooming, and shooting are all *noisy*, you won't want to do it during your daughter's
piano recital, so be warned! Finally, noise is apparent in many of the indoor shots I've
snapped (auto everything, flash off), but doesn't bother me much.
Problems:
Nothing unexpected so far, except when the R4 slipped out of my hands and crashed
to the marble floor. It really is easy to fumble and drop! Fortunately seems to be
sturdy too.
