I am not a photo pro and this is my second digital canon. The very first impression upon purchase was wow! This excitation become dissatisfaction 5 months later. The grip became more and more annoying as it is not very comfortable for my medium sized hands, even comparing to lower level cameras like G6 or S2IS. Image difference is not dramatic between 350D and S2IS or G6 on outdoor shots, DSLR overcomes indoor and surely wins in night shots. I liked 350D for low light indoor pictures with usage of higher ISO up to 800, images have very little noise.

Problems:

350D sucks dust in even with L class optics installed.
The most disturbing thing was that lets say I took a picture with a landscape mode and while keeping the framing the same switched to Av mode and set the same f number as in the resulting landscape image then shot the frame. The image parameters like brightness, sharpness etc were all left to default 0. The resulting AV image had different exposure from the landscape image! How could that be explained?
These might be problems only with my replica but it shortened my previous trust in canon DSLR and I sold the body and optics I had.
I like using manual modes and my recent 2 weeks vacation was messed with playing with settings trying to catch correct exposure for the focused objects instead of shooting them. My wife enjoyed shooting much more than me with S2IS and results were impressive! Sorry guys, I am thinking about downgrading to S3IS or even changing the brand.
