Had this camera for about 2 weeks after growing tired of using a next to useless Olypus C-720, and before that a 30 year old Pentax SLR (very good cam until I broke the winding mechanism
)
What a world of difference from what I was used to, being able to pick up a camera and beign able to review a well focused picture inside a second of switching it on!
I picked up the 400D with the twin lens kit, which has proved ideal for my needs, being primarily action shots. (Cricket, motorsport and airshows)
PROS:
Ease of use for a beginner to pick up and just shoot, and enough manual adjustments to keep the experienced happy.
Speedy response, even with auto focus.
Excellent for action shots and equally excellent in taking photos of a night sky (got some awesome shots of the McNaught comet)
Nice weight and balance even with 300mm lens.
Grip just right for my admittably small hands.
Battery life, so far I have taken approx 1000 shots without having to recharge the battery (yet the manual claims only half that.......)
Excellent instruction manual.
CONS:
Random shooting once memory is full during sequential shooting and transfer to CF card is happening.
Little bit of noise at 400 ISO and above.
If you're looking at getting into the DSLR market, then don't purchase anything until you have sampled this camera.
