So......... How do I start a rant!

I know I was impressed like the dickens when I read all the propaganda that Olympus put out on this new model (see my initial comments on 03-19-07), however comrads read on...

First time in the water it worked just like they said it would, took reasonably good pictures. Then day two I got all carried away with myself and took it into the surf to get some cool wave pictures and got hit with a small wave and the lense cover quit working, no worries I said, it's still taking pictures, we'll just get it fixed when we get home from vacation.

Day three, we go for a quick snorkel in 1.5m of water, I turned it on and Fizzzzzzzzzzzzz. Yep, busted, filled the puppy up to the eye teeth with salt water. Sent it back, havent heard from Olympus yet.

My 14yr old son has a Pentax WPI that he tortures regularilly, bullet proof in all situations. If you are interested in a good outdoors camera the WPI or its spawn W30 would be a better choice, although the camera is rated for 1.5m we routinely take it down to the 5m mark. I watched him take a 4m dump skiing with it in his pocket and it still ticks along.

I'm a little embarrased to admit to purchasing this thing, never have I felt so used by an organization as I do with this thing. My D5 would have lasted longer under water than this thing.

Wicked features..... like 5 years ago if you told me I could shoot in up to 10m water, yep, you know I'm not wrighting what I would have sed.....

Any how, I purchaced it as a second camera, one that I could take flyfishing and Kayaking without having to poop myself every time pulled the ol' D5 out of the Pelican case for a quick shot.

Problems:

Canned shot mode is difficult but manegable, no program mode.

SDX........ WTF over, dont see why they need a propriatary memory system when most of the free world can make do with SD or compact flash.

Canned shot mode takes a bit button pushing to get into. I havent quite got it figured how to get it into program mode.
