Just had this camera 1 week now and I am very satisfied. I must admit it can be difficult to choose cameras these days. There are so many good products at many different prices. Bought my 400D with the EF-S 17-85 lense. In this kit the batterygrip was in cluded too. I did read many reviews on this camera before buying it. I Can see some people are not too happy about it and many are, - but I think its more about who is behind the camera working it. If you dont know how to use the camera, it´s a waist for sure. But on the other hand it doesn't take much of an expert to operate this camera. Its difficult NOT to get a good picture. It's sure a challence to use the programs - there are a great many fetures and will take me some time to learn. But thats ok - the camera will never be borring to play with. I can just say this - "Canon, you can" - the 400D works for me in every way and its a very good deal for the money.....thanks.
