Bought my, European, IXUS 960IS a week ago after ample research on the web. Its competitor was the G9, it lost the race on volume or pocketability. The IXUS 960IS won because of programmability. Not being a professional photographer the times I'd use THAT manual control not available on the 960 will not be that frequent. The pictures are very OK. I didn't photograph since high school, 30+ yrs ago, and am happy wih this purchase. It takes nice pictures, is available, feels nice, looks good.
It seems more or less the maximum of functionality within such a small frame. Anything better will require a larger body.
Problems:
I'd rather have a live histogram, not only in review-mode, to tweak more easily and decide to add time and/or flash or not.
Not before the arrival of the G10 with the CMOS-chip and wider lens will I be tempted to buy something else.
