This is my 3rd Ixus, following a 55 and 850. I also have a Canon S80 and a couple of Nikon 8400's. This is a vast improvement over the 850 in terms of image quality. The sharpness, contrast and color saturation are much better and this was an area where the 850 did not compare to the 55, the S80 or the Nikon. One excellent feature, the mode wheel of the 850, has been replaced with a mode switch at the top and two function buttons are the back in addition to the rotary wheel. The 860's rotary wheel is supposed to multi-functional, acting as a four way rocker switch as well as a wheel a la Ipod. The latter function is pretty poor but fortunately, this has little impact on actual usage. The camera is just a tad larger than the 850 and the massive display is excellent. I thought I would miss the optical viewfinder but almost never used it in the 55 and 850. Nothing compares though to the electronic viewfinder of the Nikon 8400. In short, an excellent camera with all-around capability, wide angle capability, some manual control, all in a compact and reliable package.

Problems:

None. I continue to use the 55 and 850 and these have performed without issue as well. The Ixus (IS or Sd) series has been in service for some time and I find them to be extremely well made and reliable.
