After Olympus (analog) and Pentax (compact digital Optio S60) experience I'm very satisfied with my D40X, especially with the 18-200mm AFS-VR lens.
Great lens, no changing needed between with-angle and tele !
Big difference in sharpness, colors an features compared with a compact digital, =normal regarding price difference of course. Also super battery live !
Camera size is still OK compared with some other DSLR camera's.
I'm sure that the D80 has more options, but be careful, sometimes the use of those options makes it more difficult to operate the camera.
