I've only had the camera a few days; I bought it as an alternative to my Nikon DSLR which is too heavy to carry on most holidays. I've found the image quality on the G9, especially when shooting in RAW, to be very good indeed but not quite as crisp as my DSLR, nor would I expect it to be. I found that by turning up the contrast setting slightly this improved the image, at least to my eyes.

It has many features, most of which I'll probably not use, but the neutral density filter setting will be very useful for some landscapes.

The build quality is superb and I know that I'll take this camera everywhere and may displace my DSLR on many occasions.

Problems:

Battery life is a little disappointing and, like some other users, the neck strap just gets in the way.
