I decided to try this little gem for a week and expected to return it. But when the first week ended, I was in love with this exellent camera with loads of possibilities. Crisp and clear images, very good and natural colors, rapid response, battery doubles as extra for 400d and vice versa. Video mode and sound very good, even if 1024x768 feels a little jumpy at times due to 15 fps but the 640 x 480 is smooth with sharp pictures if not too much zoom. The camera is built like a tank, and this makes it slightly heavier than the average plastic camera. I use it as a pocket substitute in the occations I don't want to bring my SLR. The 3" screen is very bright and gives high resolution playback and info. It is however not compatible with Polarized sunglasses. Only complaint is that the zoom lever is a little bit too small; zooming in is Ok, but before you get used to it you'll need to zoom out two handed. Great value for money if you want a camera that grows on you.
If you don't want to spend this much, I can reccomend the PowerShot 720IS as it is a top pick as well, but with less functions, no external flash shoe, but almost the same picture quality, at less than half the price.
