Advantages:
1) Incredible detail resolution and overall image quality from RAW files
2) Incredible viewfinder
3) Image Stabilizer for ALL lenses - including gems such as Zeiss 2.8/24-70mm, 1.4/85mm and 1.8/135mm, and Sony 2.8/20mm
4) Best handling of all professional DSLRs (especially in vertical position)
5) very high dynamic range (up to 12.5 steps in RAW)
6) manual DRO is very useful for high-contrast situations
7) very rugged body
8) Small selection of excellent glass (Zeiss 1.4/85mm, Zeiss 1.8/135mm, Zeiss 2.8/16-35mm, Zeiss 2.8/24-70mm, Sony 2.8/70-200mm G, Sony 4-5.6/70-400mm G, Sony 2.8/300mm G => all of them clearly rivaling the best CaNikon counterparts)

Problems:

1) Not really a problem since I use the a900 for Landscape & Architecture but - noise is visible from ISO 200 on, especially when using DRO (worse than alpha 700 firmware 4)
2) Continuous AF less accurate than Nikon "silent wave" when using old Minolta lenses (though AF with the new Zeiss 2.8/24-70mm is extremely accurate and fast, faster than the Nikon/Canon counterpart)
