A delightful but overpriced camera for candid available
light shots and landscapes. The wonderful f2.0 lens
and a usable ISO 400 takes it where other non-DSLRs
would struggle ( unless you buy the Panasonic LX3 of
course )
It is the perfect camera for candid wedding
shots, reportage etc but the limited zoom range also
makes it less than ideal as a travel camera.
For as many shots gained by the fast wide angle lens
you lose as many by the inability to zoom into the
detail. ( There is an extra optical zoom facility using
reduced pixels which is OK for smaller prints )
Problems:
Cold weather seems to slow things down more than
other designs.
Shutter button feels flimsy and is typical of cheaper
Panasonic models ( at this price I would expect a
better tactile feel )
Body design beautiful but slippery
LCD copes well with midday sunlight at latitudes 30
degrees plus but in the tropics it was impossible to see
beach scenes. Optical viewfinder is extra.
