I've just bought the D-Lux 4 as a carry-round where I can't or prefer not to take my
Canon 1Ds III.
Many people are wondering why this camera costs £150 more than the essentially
identical Panasonic LX3. I think that I've just discovered the reason - the JPEG
output from the D-Lux 4 is actually better than that achieved by shooting RAW and
converting with Capture One. Many commentators have said that the JPEG output
from the LX3 is poor - maybe so but not from this camera. The JPEGs are superb.
For the first time ever - I will not be shooting RAW with a digital camera, the JPEGs
are that good.
The deal I got from R.G Lewis in London was excellent and included the brown
leather case and a 4GB Sandisk card.
Very happy punter.
