I bought this camera two months ago as a replacement for my Canon A700 and as a back-up for my Nikon D40 and for use on a Gigapan robotic camera mount, on which it has produced excellent results at full zoom. It has an excellent feature set, especially the full manual controls. Controls and menus are rather intuitive and easy to use. I seldom use it, but the digital zoom at 1.3x and 2.2x gives good results if used on a tripod and with manual focus. The IS system seems effective, and image quality is very good to excellent. It could use more zoom steps to cover its long range better. I recently took over 800 shots with it in three hours on the Gigapan mount on two sets of batteries (NiMh), and the second set still had a lot of juice left, so I haven't yet had the battery issues others have mentioned. I miss the optical viewfinder of my A700, but the bright 3" screen is effective. Color rendition is excellent, in my opinion. Overall, I am very pleased with this camera, for which I paid only $207--a superb value.

Problems:

Flash isn't much good beyond about 10 feet. Needs more zoom steps.
