Had this camera for quite a few weeks and put it through its paces. As a DCM review mentioned, it was the best of the long-zoom prosumers and that was true, I found. AF was fast and sure even at the tele end, except in very challenging lighting. Features are chockful and ease of use good, although its small size meant my meaty hands were pressing buttons they weren't supposed to. The movie quality is excellent, and overall, I found ISOs up to 800 very good, beating the S5 IS I used two years ago. As always, the hotshoe is a major plus and I am glad Canon finally included one since the S5 IS. Build is solid and the weight is comforting.
Problems:
- Lens cap, as per previous models
- Command dial at the back difficult to use
- EVF is decent but nothing as good as the Panasonic G1
