The 5DMkII is the best camera I've used to date (in comparison with the 400D, 40D and 50D). I have not had a chance to use Nikon, so I can't really comment on that. However, I think that having 21.1mps compared to Nikon D700's 12.1mps is a big advantage and also having much better noise control than Sony's A900 is a big advantage. For the price range, I don't think you will find a better camera.
Problems:
I don't have any problems with the camera. I do wish that it had wider or more autofocus points and I do wish it was weather sealed (Nikon D700 and Sony A900 are not weather sealed either). However, I did know about all this before purchasing the camera and have no problems with it.
