The s90 is the most delightful, but frustrating, compact camera I've ever owned, and I've owned many.

I'm very pleased with the image quality of s90 in a wide variety of lighting conditions. The high ISO performance in admirable coming from such a tiny camera. Images come out of the camera sharp and clear. It has a very good and intuitive menu system. From an image quality standpoint, the S90 is the best compact camera I've ever owned, though I wish it had a slightly longer zoom.

Problems:

The s90 can be difficult to hold while taking photos. Buttons and dials on the rear of the camera are small. The rear control dial is maddening. On many models it is so loose that you can inadvertently move it and camera settings will change resulting in ruined or missed shots. Check the control dial before buying as some have reported it is not as free-wheeling on their s90 than others. The problem could be a deal breaker for some.

The tiny, motorized pop-up flash is effective (you'll still get some red-eye) but you must get used to it. It will hit your finger when holding the camera when the flash is enabled. Don't keep the flash set to auto mode. Just another annoying thing you have to adapt too.
