I researched a lot about entry level dslrs before deciding on this one. I bought it from costco with 2 kit lenses. The picture quality is amazing especially in low light situation. I also love the size (portability) of the camera. The 35mm af-s 1.8 brought a whole new perspective to photography. Didn't realize that a fast lens like that can make such a huge difference. Which actually brings me the only complaint I have with this camera. There is no in body focus motor. It makes some of the great lenses unavailable to this camera such as the 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. The solution is I bought a 50mm 1.8 anyway and uses it with manual focus. With the rangefinder functionality on the camera, it is very easy to focus manually. And I use it for static images anyways. Some ppl complain about live view. However I think ppl get it totally wrong. The strength of the live view is to make manual focus accurate in situations with very shallow depth of field . When you shoot with the 35mm f1.8 the depth of field is only 1 inch or so when you shoot closely. Because of that, some times the auto focus misfocuses. I use live view, blow up the focus point on the screen and use manual focus to make sure I get the accurate focus. Again, great camera. Would be a complete package had it had the wireless flash function and in body motor built in. Oh, well i will use it for a couple of years then upgrade...
