As a wedding and a quinceanera photographer, this lens is on my camera about 90% of the time. I've used this lens on a 7D, until I sold it for a 5D Mark II and it went from great to stunning. It's has been wide enough for group shots and tack sharp. Highly recommend despite some of the poor reviews it has received.

I have had this lens from when released in 2002 so its been on many Canon bodies until the 5D Mk II. Then wow my images took a big jump. The 21 MP probably had lots to do with this becoming a great winning combination. Unfortunately its discontinued but many are available used. The next version I have not tested yet. Its more costly yes but you get what you pay for especially with the L series of lenses. I have used it for landscape and weddings with great results many times. I use three lenses a 24-70, 100-400 and a Sigma 12 -18 wide angle that are all discontinued basically. The 5D Mk II and 24-70 2.8 is a super fast lens camera/lens combo I recommend highly. I am too busy right now for new lenses testing but I enlarge many images for large out put and the quality is still as always very impressive. I have 2 camera systems one for work and one for home and both lenses work great even if discontinued. A excellent work horse.
