I had the 30D for some years. Loved it. It takes great pictures, sharp and good colours. It is fast and feels pretty solid. Battery life is good.
LCD monitor is ok
This was a pretty reliable hardware piece.
However I was a little bit disappointed that mine had more noise at ISO400 and above than the 20D I owned together with it.
Also I liked 20D colour tone a bit better, don´t know why but they looked mor authentic to me. Advantages of the 30D were bigger buffer and LCD but that´s all.
Problems:
Beside from being a good piece of hardware the cam had an dust issue. I think some cams have it more than others. My 20D never had so much dust problems as the 30D.
I had to clean it very often, because dust speckles quickly came to the sensor. My 20D nearly never needed cleaning.
Some users reported that they also had cameras that needed a lot of cleaning, others of the same type not.
It´s a little bid sad and a drop of bitterness that Canon wasn´t able to manage to produce cameras without dust problems.
