It's a shame that Canon have stuck to the old G design instead of trying a fresh approach and their designers don't seem to have the ability to create tactile objects that are a joy to use - unlike Fuji X10/X100.

Unlike Fuji however the G1X delivers on it's promise of packing a tele lens with DSLR performance into a Jacket sized bundle.
Up to 800/1600 ISO the sensor outperforms my m4/3 cameras like the Lumix G3 but coupled with an exceptional lens I tend to compare results with my Leica X1 ( yup , its that good )

I would have loved Macro ability and an EVF but I guess Canon have to protect their DSLR Trade.
And that's the problem.
The G1X could/should have been more.

Almost the bottom Line....
It's a brick and too costly.
It takes great pictures but feels dated.

This camera won't suit everybody but it is worth a look as a serious tool.
