Sony camera useless manual

I just purchased this camera it may be a great camera if I can figure out how to use it efficiently. However the manual that is included in the box is next to useless! It is the same one that is downloadable from their site. I talked to Sony support and they where not at this time able to do anything about this. How can you put a camera on the market with such a poor instruction book? I have owned several cameras but this is my first Sony camera and it has by far the crappyest instruction book of all.

Problems:

Very rudimentary instruction manual, makes it difficult with out loads of experimenting to get the most out of this camera.
