Almost 70% of all the people are saying this lens isn't sharp much. But I took some wonderful shots with this and they are pretty sharp to me. General wide angle zoom options are currently 14-24, 16-35, and 17-35. 14-24 is for specific needs and thus not suitable for general day to day use like street photography, portraits etc. 16-35 is ok but you lose one stop and distortion is worse for an extra VR. So I chose 17-35 and it was 400$ more expensive than 16-35.
Problems:
A little a less shapness if you zoom all the way in and scan 36 MP images pixel by pixel. Otherwise you won't even notice it.
