I would consider my self a serious amateur landscape photographer. I bought my Kodak EasyShare Z990 last spring mainly because of its Schneider-Kreuznach lens. It took great pictures. I liked its video feature better than my Canon Power Shot SX30is. What I remember most was when I went to Edwards AFB to watch the Endeavour return to LA piggyback on a 747. I had the Z990 on a tripod videoing and I was hand holding my SX30is for stills. I also had my Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28 as backup. The Canon's auto focus got lost in the haze above the NASA flight center about 5 miles distant from me as the 747 looped it around before landing. However, I took several still (2 MP) shots on the Z990 during shooting the HD video which came out crisp and clear. Unfortunately, thieves broke into our house and stole all my photo equipment except the Canon SX30is and a pocet size Panasonic which I had with me in Hawaii. I considered the AA batteries to be an asset because I travel a lot and you can find AA batteries any place on earth.

Problems:

I never quite got used to the programming and controls. The access door to the batteries was sloppy to lock so I always wonderer how long it would last. Also, I would prefer a metal tripod screw mount being that long zoom requires tripods for great pictures.
