Its been a year since I got the Sony SLT-A65, and I have really enjoyed using the camera. I moved up from a compact camera the Canon S90. After many weeks of research online, the shortlist came down to the Canon 60D and the SLT-A65. I was a little unsure of the Sony DSLR lineup but now I am really comfortable with a full Sony system.
The main advantages of the A65 that I see are:
Full time live view
Fast autofocus (depending on lens)
24 MP resolution that allows for cropping
Availability of many inexpensive used Minolta lenses
Wealth of features such as built-in panorama, GPS tagging etc.
Phase detect autofocus during HD video
Awesome EVF that provides so much information (although it took a few days to get used to)
Overall its been a great tool to learn and expand my photo skills. For an enthusiast or advanced amateur this is the perfect camera. I am really impressed with Sony's technology going into their recent cameras and sensors.
Problems:
Noise at High ISO. Shooting RAW and processing in Lightroom can really improve the final image
Autofocus issues at low light or fast moving objects
