Although I'm a member of the F505V Keep-The-Stickers Club, there's no doubt the new kid on the block, the DSC-P1, should be stripped naked. Go see for yourself...

Definitely looks much better in the nude... =D

It sure looks better stripped. I may consider getting one. The first photo of the P1 with stickcer and blue stripe around the camera look cheap. My problem with Sony is still their quality control. I already have two very expensive paper weights from Sony! (a vdo camera and an sw1 short wave radio). I am cosider buying an F505V but very skeptical after reading about quality problems people mentioned here. When I have problem with my vdo cam it took months for Sony here to fix.

Despite us seeing postings that there have been some defective F505V's and S70's out there, we have to keep it in perspective. For every posting of a defective unit, I'm sure there's a huge number of units that are sold working perfectly. We just happen to hear about the bad ones. The folks with the good ones are just too busy taking photos... :)

I think my original Sony brand Walkman still functions, so I can't complain. :)

Exactly.

I think if there were a real QC problem, we'd here a lot more about it, not only here but elsewhere in the newsgroups, on the web, in magazines, etc.

This does not diminish the fact that some users get bad units, which could occur for any number of reasons besides the actual manufacturing lines on which the cameras were put together. There are so many other hands that get laid upon the camera before the customer ever even touches it that I'm surprised that we don't hear more about problems.

Ok, ok, I'm guilty. :)

As Ulysses pointed out, the pictures are just links from Steve's Digicam site, and the Image-Resource site. I was trying to find two good similar shots with and without stickers.

I don't live in Japan, but I am going on vacation there in a few weeks... :)

Arigato!
