Still strong after all these years, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey and friends sounded incredible last week in Oakland. Although I wasn't into the Quadrophrenia album that much, it was good to hear it live. I am glad they played some of their old standards at the end of the concert. Pete's brother, Simon, played rhythm guitar and vocals. I didn't realize that he was a successful musician in his own right. There was a wonderful tribute to John Entwistle and Keith Moon. I was glad that I saw the original four in the 60's and then we caught John Entwistle when he was touring with Ringo Star shortly before he died 10 years ago.

I decided to shoot in S-mode keeping the speed at around 1/100 to capture the action, so the ISO was a high as 800 on most of the shots. These guys were moving around much more than the last concert we went to (Peter Gabriel) which I shot at 100 ISO to keep the noise levels down. It's all about tradeoffs. Consequently, these shots are not as sharp and crisp as I like, but I got what I wanted and that's to document the experience. C&C always welcomed.

I am sure shooting with ISO 200 or 320 would have still given you clean shots, at a slightly sharper level. Or you could have just shot with an FZ200, if they were allowed in. ;+)

Thank you for sharing these shots.

Nice Shots, Daniel! I think they are fine even with the high ISO. I remember seeing these guys in the 70's. They were great and put on a good show. I can still see Daltry slinging his mic around his body becoming entwined with the cord and then he would hop out of all of the loops like nobody's business. Thanks for posting.

You and the zs15 did quite well, Daniel!

I never seen them in concert, but am a big fan of them.

Good to see they still have it!

Cheers

Fine set, Daniel.. images of great value to a true follower and admirer.. personally I like the second shot the best, for natural colors and perfect capture of atmosphere by inclusion of the audience in the picture - well done, hope your hearing has recovered by now, LOL (just kidding!) :D ..

Best regards,

I think you are right about that TB. I could have probably keep the ISO at 200 and still captured the action. There's always next time. The FZ200 would have been an altogether different proposition since I don't have one. :-)

Take care,

Daniel

Thanks, Anayv. I think the ZS does a great job at concerts - the perfect focal length for most situation. They definitely still have their mojo. Someone said this may be their last tour; I hope not. But if it is, I am glad I caught them before it was too late.

Take care,

Daniel
