Hi,

Would it make any sense to use a teleconverter together with the 60mm macro lens?

Would it increase the working distance?

I'm looking for a macro solution and i have come to the conlusion that a dedicated macro lens is probably the best solution but I'm a bit worried about the short working distance you get with the 60mm lens.

I'm also consider to buy the kenko extension tubes and use them together with my 75-300 lens.

I'm not aware of a tele converter made for m4/3. Your only options to increase working distance with macro would be a longer lens used with either an extension tubes or a front threaded close up lens attachment.

E-M5? You could always use the digital 2X TC built-in to the camera. Works pretty darn well. I played with that feature this past Saturday night at an NHL game with the 75mm f1.8. There is no teleconverter for micro four-thirds right now.

The digital 2x TC will get you twice as close, so you could back off further.

The Kenko tubes work well with the 75-300. From the 150-300mm focal length range you can back off 3-4 feet and still get in close. Not macro close, but close enough for something like these I captured while using the 10mm Kenko tube with the 75-300..

May not work for you but also keep in mind the Oly 4/3s 70-300 lens. This will do 1:2 macro at about a metre.

I do not have firsthand experience myself, but have seen some quite impressive results in German Systemkamera-forum about Oly 60mm macro + Oly TCON-17 (Step-up Ring 46mm to 55mm needed)

Here’s one link;
http://www.systemkamera-forum.de/mi.../39450-zuiko-2-8-60mm-macro-lumix-g-xx-2.html

The interesting part starts around post #19

Some pics later, eg;

You might want to google around to see if you find something in English speaking forums about the combo.

I have the Oly 60mm macro and I’m considering the TCON-17, but have not made up my mind yet....
