Hi,

I bought a Nikon D3100 in 2011 (NEW) I heard they only last until 150,000 shutter count? Is that true? Reason I'm asking is because it's already at 32,000 I plan on having it awhile.

Thanks (:

150,000 is awesome. Entry level cameras used to be rated for 50,000.

It's not like it is going to die as you take picture 150,001. It's just that on average they should last that long. You might get 50,000 and you might get 500,000. A bit of luck of the draw.

To console yourself, consider what shooting 150,000 frames of even cheap drugstore film would have cost. At least 20 cents a frame including small prints. So you are getting at lest $30,000 worth of film shots for about $500.
