And you have a bunch to choose from! What is it about the 995 that you like over the others Thomas?
Jarrell
A...Ha!
So that 5700 hasn't taken the fun from the 990?

I use my 995 more than any of my cameras.

Very nice Jarrell, that looks like a study for the current challenge? I'm curious where it's warm enough over there at the moment to sit under a waterfall? That shot brings back memories... I grew up in the tropics where there were stacks of places you could do that.

Very nice shot Jarrel.. U know what, i had a 995 before 5700, and it was stolen last month(so I bought 5700) and as Thomas mentioned, i sometimes really miss it.. it is that unique design , I think, what i miss with it..

Howdy, Jarrell: I almost missed this post. What a wonderfully dramatic and somehow, contradictory, shot. I say "contradiction" simply because of her stillness as she's surrounded by the turbulence of the water. I really like what you've captured here.

Now tell us, where was this shot?

taken in Jamaica. It got buried on a cd and I just located it again.

Thank you for your kind comments. It was a very, very hot and humid day when this was shot and I envied her a lot. :)
Jarrell
I like it so much.

Would you believe my sister-in-law climbed the falls with us, wearing brand new expensive sunglasses. Needless to say, they fell of and that was the end of them. Like that photo - love that place.

This must have gotten buried before I noticed this.

Well…
I have carried around a manual camera on a strap or a belt clip all my life.
Nikon F, EM, FG, and so on. Usually with a 35 to 70mm lens, or a 50mm.
And of the personal images I accumulate, (while always having a camera with me)
The need to blow up an image has never come up, with very few exceptions.
So when Nikon came out with the 990 I found myself very comfortable with it.
I no longer (Simply by habit or chance) carried the film camera @ all.

I found that the 990/995 was exactly the same as the fore-mentioned cameras, with only two exemptions:
Digital, not film.

Not SLR, but with a twist (Which for some strange reason made the transition a more acceptable/adaptable alternative than any other type digital)

I can turn it on and it’s fully automatic, yet one more notch of the wheel and it’s fully manual.

To be honest I really feel if I didn’t have the 9xx series to carry, I would be carrying a manual film camera.

(Some how I think you can relate)
