I did not follow so much the developements around this camera.

My idea is eventually to get a GXR + 24-72mm module + M module + viewfinder.

Any tips where i could have a good price?

Thanks

No tips regarding a good price. The problem is to find a Ricoh dealer at all, I would say...

Here are three German dealers that sell Ricoh (although they may not sell everything you want).

BTW: I would like to suggest to go with the bulkier A12 24-85 instead of the S10 (24-72).

I'm not sure about US stores, however up here in Canada there are a few that carry Ricoh GXR's officially. Most notable is Henrys.com.

Myself, I purchased a used kit off of ebay for a decent price.

Good luck with your search!

It is easy to find them in large camera stores and online. . . .in Japan, >grin<.

Official dealers in the U.S.:

B&H Photo

PopFlash.com - they regularly stock GXR components - well worth checking here.

Pro Photo Supply, Portland OR (this is where I bought mine - they only do mail order to U.S. addresses FYI; I deal with Tom Huston there, but I doubt it matters. They don't do a lot of volume of Ricoh GXR product but do carry it. Mine was in stock at the time.)

... and one other whose name escapes me.

Of the three I've mentioned pricing tends to be the same. Had Pro Photo not had all the components I wanted in stock last year when I bought mine, I'd probably have purchased from Pop Flash as I've also dealt with them in the past - a reputable outfit (all three are).

The other alternative is the used market. As it is a very ruggedly built camera, used is a good option.

Bought mine used on the bay, some users buy it as a gift for someone else, huge misstake, i had the luck to stumble upon such a deal. Was new, had less than 200 clicks, old software.

Regarding modules; i have the S10, i'm surprised how sharp the ppics are, so if you really want somethin in the 24-72 range, and want to use it as family lensor; it wil work perfect, however, for holidays, i think the P10 is better, sensor is smaller, IQ maybe a bit less, although i'm not convinced as i never really compaired them.

The A16 is off course much better, but also much bulkier.

Have fun with your next buy, hope its a Ricoh.

From what I "hear" outside Japan they are not common in stores anywhere. You can buy them in stores here in Australia but it is a big country and I doubt if there is in reality much more "visibility" than any other not-Japan country. In any one country it might be a first stop to ask the local distributer where stockists are. Meanwhile it seems that Ricoh, outside Japan, is becoming a mail-order product only. In place of trying for oneself would be owners are having to rely more and more on opinion sites such as this forum or on product reviews. Therefore a reputation for reliable long-lasting capable product is more useful than "gee-whizz, but it has bugs".

A completely new camera still needs weighting and waving around in my hands for me to be "really sure" but increasingly the "good specifcation" new cameras are hard to find for that wave-around no matter what brand they be. More often they are rows of remaindered stock of "pap" compact cameras or entry level specials that I am not interested in. Only recently I saw my first ever Olympus OM-D - waved it around a bit, that it was "tethered" so that it was hard to tell, but a camera with such impressive specifications felt "light" even if it was not "lightweight".

It sort of is the thing you see blokes doing in tool shops, picking the tool up and checking it for "weight" and "balance". If that weight and balance were the only selection criteria then the GXR has it in spades and the OM-D is sadly lacking. Both specify up as great cameras though.

Oh "good price?" Generally there are no real bargains outside the possibility of second hand via eBay. Stockists only carry small quantities (= low margins) and there is no need to quit stock because of impending new model release. Occasionally one or more of the larger mail order houses seem to buy up a job-lot at a good price and pass it on to the consumer.

I bought my GXR equipment from Popflash.com in Southern California, mail order. Tony and Alex do a great job, excellent customer service. Prices are pretty much the same as everywhere.

Did you saw Here ?

Thanks for all your good hints ! Especially the local german ebay-site is interesting for me , i will give it a try over there. (Import from the US to europe is expensive, about 24% taxes on the total value , transport and insurance included!)

You could also try the Ricoh Forum if it's OK to give the friendly people there a plug.
