Hi I have 2 new Canon 600-EX-RT flashes and a Sony HVL-F58AM flash. I use the Canon 5D primarily for photoshoots/weddings etc. My Sony flash has been sitting on my shelf unused for a long time...I was wondering if there was a way to incorporate the Sony flash in a Canon wireless setup? Even if it fires in manual mode..thats ok.. I still have a Sony DSLR and use the Sony flash with that on holidays etc..Thats why I dont sell it.. Is it possible to simultaneously fire the Sony flash when the Canon flashes fire? Thanks!

Yes, sorta. You would need a non-optical means of triggering the Sony. Sync cord, radio remote, etc. Optical slave would trigger the Sony with the preflash of the canons. While doable, this sounds like a clunky configuration. IMO canon should release recievers that can trigger other flash units, even if only manually.

You could fire it with an optical slave trigger but you would have to use the 600-EX-RTs in manual mode too so that there wasn't any preflashes for E-TTL. There are ones that fit the hot-shoe of the flash and some that plug into a sync socket - just look at Adorama or B&H for examples.

Why not just pick up a cheap hot-shoe flash that has a built in optical slave?

Use all 3 in manual mode. Get a set of in-expensive radio transmitter and a hotshoe to PC or hotshoe to mini-phono adapter, depending on what is required to sync with the receiver.
