I think I like modern living better even with all its pitfalls.

I love these type of pictures. These are very well done. This shows that pumping gas (Petrol) really meant 'pumping'.

Where is this.

Very nice set of shots that might just allow some to be nostalgic for a simpler time. Many a time I've said the only truly reliable button on piece of modern technology is the off button. Fortunately these shots very much have the camera's button on and are a set of images I thank you for sharing. I could get lost just walking around the setting in these images.

Nice ones John.

So do I ...

I can remember actually using one of those hand pumps in my youth ...

There's potentially over 100K $$ sitting in that used car lot. Great series.

That's a very inteestig location, and your images show it well.

What's missing is information regarding the location.

We still actually have a few working pumps like that in the boon docks. :)

What a fun place to visit.

Hi Judy,

We returned via this place from a vacation to the outback in South Australia (Flinder's Ranges) These photos were taken at a place called 'Old Tailem Town' Australia's largest pioneer village. I had read about this village and just had to visit, so in a round about way we diverted and travelled a few 100 K's from where we were to experience the place and photograph it. It was all I had hoped for, a very authentic display of yesteryear here in Australia. From memory, our total distance travelled going to and from Melbourne was around 3500K's, not bad in 10 days, and we also experienced a part of the "outback" we had never seen before.

Thanks for commenting, guess the weather is cooling down some now in ID.

Cheers,

John

The image of Amoco sign has great balance, my favorite.

A wonderful set, John, both the subject and the colors are very nicely done, and you likewise somehow avoided including other tourists (no small feat, I'm guessing).

I was struggling to guess where they were taken--with all the American brands and the subtropical foliage I was trying to place it in the American south, but the peculiar rooflines and gum trees had me wondering "Australia?" Had I looked a little closer I might have noticed "tires" is actually spelled "tyres" but for that handle in the way.

Thanks for sharing these!

Cheers,

Rick

I'm glad you could get there and found it as good as you hoped. That's a bit of driving, but worth with.

It is getting cool here. The past few days have been flat cold. lol We had a skiff of snow yesterday and today, but it didn't stick much. Not looking forward to snowy roads!
