Does anybody use a wireless remote shutter as a full time replacement for the real thing?

I use a wired remote shutter release when I’m night shooting and I have to say I find it very easy apart from I have a tendency to loosen the connection to the camera and miss a couple of shots while I reinsert it properly. I have been thinking about replacing it with a wireless version.

Readers of my other posts may know that I have just bought a G5 and I’m finding the handling a bit difficult. I have a condition which means that my hands aren’t as sensitive as normal and as a result I can’t feel the very flush shutter button which is compounding my difficulties.

I am wondering whether the purchase of a wireless remote shutter release might kill two birds with one stone and I could use it as my everyday shutter button. Does anybody do this. I thought that regular live view/lcd users might find it easier. Is there any performance deterioration? Based upon my experience with the wired version I suspect not.

I had thought of sticking something to the button but was worried about damaging the camera or changing it so that it made it difficult if I ever want to trade it on inthe future. If you get a chance I'd love to see a shot of what you have done.

Sure. Here tis:

In normal use, I don't see the prism-like effect you see here. It's just a reflection of whatever happened to be in the room on the facets of the "jewel." Works great, easy to remove if you want to sell the camera.

Thanks

Found the website where I got the stick-on "jewels"

I bought the middle one, which has multiple sizes, but you might find a better match for the shutter button with another size sticker. I have since seen these, occasionally, at craft and convenience stores.

I have a electric remote and use it on G1 and G2. I use it little it makes it just that much more complicated. I use it when I put the camera where I cann't go ( next to the race track) and a few long exposier tripod stuff. I have heard newer cameras might work with smart phones, that would be cool.

So simple. I went in to my local Poundland tonight and bought a sheet of about 100 and as the name suggests they cost me £1. Only used one and has transformed the way I take pictures.

It's pink but.....

Glad it worked out, pink notwithstanding.
