OK simple yes or no who will upgrade to 6D from APH-C

I'll probably upgrade, though I may see if the price falls first. I'm still shooting with a 20D (why? because it still shoots...), but have been toying with the idea of going full frame. I honestly don't need much in the way of advanced autofocus -- what I'd like are:

1. Better image quality. I feel like I'm at the outer edge of what the 20D can do, and I'd like to see what something FF can handle.

2. Silent shooting. I've missed too many shots in churches or museums because I didn't want to disturb anyone with the 20D's clattering shutter.

3. A level. I work hard to get my shots level -- a tool to help with that would be nice.

4. Expanded ISO performance.

5. Dust prevention.

6. Spot metering. Yes, that's right, I said spot metering. I'd like spot metering. Which you probably get on a flippin' iPhone these days, but if anyone can still remember the 20D...wasn't a feature back then. I don't need it enough to make it worth upgrading to another cropped camera, but it'd sure be nice.

Here's what I don't need:

1. A far advanced auto focus system. The 20D isn't brilliant, but for what I do I don't miss many shots. Something just slightly better than that would be fine.

2. A high burst rate. It's just not relevant to what I shoot.

3. A high flash sync rate. I don't get much opportunity for flash anyways.

4. GPS, WiFi, etc. But, hey, if it comes with it...

So, for me, a 6D could be a pretty nice fit. It mainly does the things I want, and doesn't do the things I don't need a camera to do. My one gripe is that it has only 1/4000 shutter speed maximum -- which just seems odd to me. (I rarely shoot at 1/8000...but I do from time to time.) But I can deal.

I'm not an early adopter (I. still. shoot. a. 20D), and it won't be out in time for my vacation this year, so I'll probably wait for the price to come down -- but I'll likely upgrade.

Thanks.

NO.

I have a 5D.

I really like the idea of a lighter camera (plus all the "new" features compared to 5D). I hoped for a better price, so I think I'll pass until the price drops.

I would have liked more cross type AF points; everything else is fine for me.

I don't understand what people expect from this camera. It's FF, can't cost that much less. At 1800-1900$ could be a good camera (on paper, let's see the tests).

Not very likely. Based solely on specs I would say NO! But I will wait to see reviews about AF performance and low light capabilities.

I have a 60D as my main camera and love it. An old Rebel XTi as reliable backup. I have nothing invested in FF glass really, just a 70-200 F/4L. Im not going to be upgrading to FF right now, but I want to soon. So I would probably go with a Nikon D600... or a Canon 5D Mark II. The 6D takes away to many things I want/need and doesn't give much in return except GPS and WIFI which I will never use. Plus I love it that Nikon now has Intervalometers built into their cameras! Should be great for doing star trails, astral photography and time lapse.

Have you got a smart phone? Chances are you would be able to do any time lapse functions you might ever desire by controlling the 6D with that.

And at the same time see what you are shooting in live view on the smart phone's screen from your sofa.
