Hi,

I've got a Lumix DMC-ZS15. I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me step by step how to switch the camera from using its internal memory over to the memory card. Right now, I keep getting the message "Memory Full" and I'm sure it's because the camera is for some reason using the onboard memory and not the card. I know this sounds like the dumbest question ever, but I dont have the full owners manual, and I can't find this anywhere online.

Thanks a ton!

Here's a link to the manual. Actually its says more detailed information is on the CD that came with the camera so I can't help there. What you do is either hit Control + F on PC or Command + F on Mac, this is how you search inside a PDF like this manual. Type in memory card or something like that and it will search the entire manual for the key word (s) you enter.

Thanks Ryan - but this is the basic manual, and the info isn't in there. I already searched that online. I need the info that's in the CD - or the know-how of someone who has the camera.

Playback menu.
Copy
In to SD
will copy images from the internal memory to the card.

Also, be sure that your card's not full. That might also give a "memory full" error. Recording should automatically take place on the card if it's inserted. No user interface for that.

Thanks Sherm - I'll see what happens. i don't even have the camera with me, as i'm away right now - my wife's got it and is getting the memory full message - but I've been giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming that she would know if the card actually was full. Perhaps not.....

That's right...blame your wife. See how far that'll get you.

I suspect the issue is a full card - I'm pretty sure that's the message I got yesterday with a full card....unless of course there's no card in the slot at all.
Seems simplest to swap cards and see if the problem disappears.

I seem to remember that the (LX5) manual states that the card should be formatted in the camera .

Try clearing off the card in your computer then starting fresh with a camera format.

Was the card used in another brand camera before ?
The camera should write to the card if it's present and recognized.

thanks steve. I'll see if we can get that to happen. it's got to be something like that.

Don't format the existing card without looking to see what's on it.
Any new card should work just fine.

Here's a thought.

We know that the camera should write to the SD card if it is inserted in the camera instead of the internal memory.

So one asks why this is not happening?

Did the tiny switch on the side of the SD card accidentally get set to LOCK when you slipped it in the camera? If so, you can't write to the card.

The card could be full.

If this is the first time you tried this card, perhaps it need formatting.

The card could be bad, you could try another.

Some things to check....
