I know the G2 is not a camcorder... :)

but before buying I would like to be able to see some examples of the movie mode. It seems to be a nice feature for capturing 'moments'.

Does anyone have some clips to look at?

Thanks.

I don't have any clips online for you to look at, and while the G2 is great fun to use as a mini-camcorder (I use it a lot at parties, etc), it will only capture 30sec of 320x240 video at a time. this is pretty limiting i have found, so if i were you i would wait for the G3 which will take up to 3 minutes at a time, and probably better quality too.

i think the G3 will even record movies up to the total space left on your CF card, if it's fast enough to keep up with the data rate from the sensor.

i was gonna type something witty here but then i changed my mind.

I agree, wait for G3. The G3 can record up to 3 minutes (at a time until the buffer is flushed) )and NOT the full CF card.

I cant convert my clips to MPG ... go to phils review I believe there are clips posted.

Here's some G2 samples. BTW, 30 seconds is a decent length movie clip. Think of these as individual scenes like in a movie or TV show. 30 seconds is plenty long. You can connect a bunch of them together to make a movie. If you take a scene that is 3 min long of your baby drooling, you are going to get real bored after a while.

These are all G2 movies, the one of the duck doesn't appear to have much sound but that is because the duck didn't say anything. The one called 'park' was taken right off the screen of my TV so the quality is not so good, but you get a good idea of the sound. The clip "combo" is 3 movies put together into one. The files ending in "wmf" are Windows Media Files and the file ending in "ram" plays with ReadVideo. All of these files are compressed files - not the original files from the camera which are WAY too large to play on the Internet.

I don't have anything uploaded to my web space either but I have put five 30 second video sequences together easily using Movie Maker, which is part of Windows ME/XP or maybe can be DL'd from MS(?). Is a 4.11 megabyte mini-movie of rather low quality compared to any camcorders but it's still watchable. So I don't use it much. The audio isn't nearly as bad as you'd think it would be, I guess.

Hi ronja,

I aint got no webpage but if you like I can email you one or two clips if your internet connections is fast enuff. Nice to see the G2 samples in the internet but i can show you what they look like when you filmn inside, outside, whatever you want. The movies are a gimmick, nice to have but doesnt replace a camcorder if filming is really important to you.

For me, I dont wanna miss this feature. Went to Hockenheimring for the formula 1 racing e.g. and its good fun to have some clips as well. Sound especially hehehehe

email me if you are interested please
