I'm buying the following equipment:

Sony Alpha SLT-A77 DSLR
Sony 16-50mm f/2.8
Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM
Sony 85mm f/1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T*
Sony HVL-F43AM Compact External Flash
plus batteries, memory cards.

I prefer a sling bag and am considering the Ape Case ACPRO1700, Kata LighTri-317 PL Torso Pack, Think Tank Sling-O-Matic 20, as well as having looked at a lot others

I don't necessarily carry a laptop with me. Fly once a month. Shoot both landscape/wildlife and street. And won't be carrying extras in the bag like water bottles, jackets, etc.

Does anyone have advice/experience as to which bag (either the ones I've listed or other suggestion as well) would fit the equipment listed.

Thank you.

I have upgraded to the 3n1 30 pro L (i think that's the designation). You could probably do with a bit less, like the 3n1 20, but I think these 3n1's are great---and I'm a big Lowe lover.

The 3n1's can be both sling bags (either shoulder, btw) and backpacks, and can be used as both simulataneously. While the ahoulder straps are well padded, they are narrower than other sling bags---but that's so they can be stowed. The hip belt is the best of any. Cinch it down and all the weight is off your shoulders.

The bags carry a heck of a lot, much more than you list. I have taken mine on 2 big trips this year, with the following: A850, grip, 2 metz flashes, triggers, cords, cz16-35, Tamron 28-75 and 70-300, Sigma 24, 50, and 85 fast primes, netbook, chargers, assorted jazz, plus an Nex7 with5 lenses, tripod strapped to it. Weighs a lot (this is airline packing---I unload stuff at destinations and use a smaller bag I bring along). Thankfully, The 3n1 30's also have a "slot" for an Insertrolley handtruck so I can wheel it.

Fabulous bag. Has a waterproof cover, too.

Thanks.

I've looked at the 3n1s, too, especially the 20.

And they do seem like good bags. The only concern I've read is that it's difficult to get equipment out ... but without actually handling the bag myself it's all hearsay. But that's also why I looked at the Torso pack because I've got an older Kata now that is similar to the Torso and access is great ... but I don't know about size.

Hopefully I can look at the 3n1s; based on what you say, they are worth considering.

Thanks.

I have both the Kata 3in1 20 and 3in1 30. Some gear can be a bit difficult to get out but that occurs when you put a lot of gear in it. If you load the bag with the most used gear in the most accessible positions, you shouldn't have many issues. The Kata bags are very well-made, IMO.

Thanks for the response.

By the way to both epople who responded:

Did you find the 20 and 30 big to carry around? You know, like a big ole' bag strapped to your back, something like Santa Claus might carry.

I've seen the bag on the web but have a hard time visualizing how big it is?

Thank you.

IMO, the 20 is not a big bag, it's like having the LowePro 200AW on your back which is not large. I use the 20 for carrying the camera a few lenses. When I want to carry more gear, particularly my 70-200mm EX, I use the 30 which holds more gear.
