7d firmware is up

Testing...... Real Soon :D

Cool. Let us know how it goes and whether it's safe to download?

safe to download...installing now...at 71% and counting

It's up... And it's good.

Installed and working fine! Thanks for the update on the firmware!

I downloaded and installed it as well. The actual update took about two minutes. I'll be shooting at a baseball game tomorrow evening. I don't expect any issues, but will bring a second body, just in case.

For now, I've set my file names to start with "X7D_". Sometimes I use "Adobe RGB" instead of "sRGB" for my color space. I did a test and "Adobe RGB" changes my file names to start with "_7D_".

Done! No issues.
VERY COOL! Thank you Canon!

I did an identical RAW+JPEG burst test(until stop)before update w/firmware version 1:2.3 with a Lexar Pro UDMA 16GB 300x, and after w/V2. Set to manual, ISO400, 1/200 sec f2.8, std Picture Style
Before...
8 frames
After.....
18 frames!!!!
Impressive indeed!!!

AGAIN, THANKS CANON!

One interesting thing I noticed, it will not let you rate or work w/the new features with images on a card shot previous to update. Goes to show how even the original image files are layed down differently. Am very curious to see what other improvements there may be that just weren't listed...

This calls for a toast to a NEW Canon 7D...now twin-turbocharged by two optimized and turned loose Digic 4's!
:)

Cheers,
Mark

no issues...

Upgraded...

My 533x 16gb card shows a buffer of 23 with ISO under 400. An extra second of buffer will sure help out, so it's an awesome change!

Can't wait to try out the max ISO feature...
Max Burst now shows 23 for RAW, 17 for RAW+JPEG.
Interesting... Mine only shows 22 for RAW and 16 for RAW+JPG. I have a 16GB Lexar 400X card.

Now for the 100000000$ question, any improvements in AF consistency or banding/noise with the update? Only time will tell.

Don't be ridiculous. If Canon was actually able to make these types of improvements with a mere firmware upgrade, they'd be shouting it from the roof.

... looking forward to trying out those 25-shot RAW bursts. :-D
