After my initial success with attaching my 15-year-old 1.7x tele-converter to the SZ-30MR, I decided to improve the fitting of my, also recycled, CLA-4 adaptor. The main material are laminating sleeves. They were put through the heated rollers of a laminator, without any prints inside them. The laminated sheets were cut into strips and then wound around the CLA-4 adaptor. The width of the strips is slightly wider than the lens extends on the SZ-30MR.

I have laminated pictures that show no deterioration after ten years, so the laminate is not a problem. But I built up the tube using cellu-tape to hold them together - and the glue on cellu-tape has been found to dry out. So I re-made the tube using drops of super-glue, with the cellu-tape intended as a temporary fastener. Instead of making the push-fit outer tube just one laminate thick, I used two for long-term reliability, and generally paid more attention to the precision of my construction.

The (new) picture shows the B-300 with its newly modified CLA-4 adaptor beside the SZ-30MR with the lens fully extended -

I made sure that the outer push-fit tube is tightly wound, so the weight of the B-300 does not pull the assembly off the lens flange on the SZ-30MR. Then I spent some money for a yard of black sticky vynil, and wound a strip of that round my modified lens adaptor -

Now this test object was chosen because it will show up chromatic aberration -

CA is definitley there, but I tolerated worse on my SP-550UZ until a firmware update solved THAT problem.

There is also another moon shot -

PS I used my Stylus 9010 to take the shots of the SZ-30MR. It just so happens that the SZ-31MR iHS has a very simlar button layout on the back. The movie button has wider spacing with the view button, which makes me less accident-prone.

Hi Henry,

If I knew you were interested in this kind of stuff, I would have pointed you to my pbase site at http://www.pbase.com/paulm2/homemadestuff

Way back, I cobbled up a adapter for my B-300 and B-28 lens to fit on my little OLY c-7000z. This cam also does not have any threaded nose elements, just a flange up near the camera body.

Not being industrious as you I used an old plastic flashlight body to fit to the camera body flange and the opposite end to fit a threaded adapter.

Mater of fact I made two of them, one for the telephoto and the other for the wide angle.

Still have them along with the Oly lenses and the c-7000z.

Now this little camera has become the one I grab when leaving the house as it seems to fit just about every occasion.

Good luck with your future endeavors.

Henry...
Amazing idea.
Amazing construction.
Amazing photos resulting from the construction.
Amazing that no one else commented, yet.

Thank you.

I believe there is a bit of pre-occupation on this forum with other Olympus models.

It is nice to know some people have seen my post.

I will have to spend more time on your page. The C-750UZ did have a thread, hence the CLA-4 adaptor.

Well done.
Good luck with your future endeavors.
I am hoping to get some bird shots soon.
