The IT is a great device and worked without a hitch while I was on vacation. Of the 5500 pics I took over a 6 week period, only 6 did not make it through completely. The 6 pictures (all RAW files) were there, howhever, their size was approximately only 60% the size of what the other RAW files had.

The Canon RAW converter would not convert these files, nor would any other program. BreezeBrowser to my surprise actually displayed the uncorrupted photos which I was able to extract from the RAW file individually using the "Extract Embeded JPEG's" command from the toolbar. The result is a 480x640x16M image, a far cry from the 2272x1704 it should have been.

I suffered only minimal loss as I usually take several pictures of every subject. I am happy with the Image Tank and was a worthy investment as I would have spent a great deal more on CF Cards. I had two 256Mb cards and only rarely ran out of storage space... but then I just went back and deleted the worst pics of every subject which I had plenty others of anyway.

The one thing that puzzles me though is why only the CRW files were not completely intact. Only 33% of my pics were taken in RAW mode.

Hi Barna,

The fault is not from your Image tank - G2 raw files sometimes are corrupt - They can´t be converted but the internal JPG (Raw files have a VGA JPG inside) is visible and ok. That is a fault from G2 and I think that every body has ... I got 1 yesterday (I didn´t have them for a long time).

I don´t know the reason it happens but I know when it happens since i have preview activated and on those faulty occasions, G2 takes a loooong time to show the preview after taking the shot.

Regards,

Same thing has happened to me too - but on the S30. I've shot a total of about 2900 pictures with it, and of those at least 2850 have been in RAW. Less than 10 of those have been corrupted. Luckily none of them have been anything so great that the loss would be big.

This similar problem on these cameras is not surprising, considering that mostly they have the same internal stuff.

You should repost this thread on the Storage and Media forum as well. There is generally a lot of discussion on the IT there.

Do a search. It has been discussed before and there are several suggestions how to eliminate or reduce the problem.
