I bought this lens used a few months ago. I know it's an older design, doesn't have modern coatings or even auto focus. However, I find I am enjoying this lens more and more all the time on my D7000. A few samples below...

I guess that's more than a few...hope you liked them.

Your shots are nice but they look heavily processed so it is hard to judge the lens if that was your intention.
Thanks for the compliment Andy, and no, my post was not meant to be a review of the lens at all. There are plenty of those on the internet.

I just want to express my pleasure with this relatively inexpensive (bought for less than $300), older prime. It makes great images and is both small and light.

Actually the first two shots have very little processing done to them (small amount of sharpening and contrast done in CNX2). They are long exposure shots done just after sunset.

However you are correct about the car and band shots. And the heavy processing there is intentional. Groups I have been shooting for (car clubs, bands and motorcyclists) like that "look" a lot.

Thanks again.

Very nice. I'd love to see this lens on a D800 to get the feel for how it might perform. Might be in the market for a similar lens in that case. Must be lightweight, an added advantage.

Nice photos. I almost forget this lens. It reminds me the good old days of AI-S Nikkor. They are metal barrel, smooth focus ring, like a piece of art. Unlike the new AF-S 28/1.8G. It is plastic barrel and loose focus ring, like a toy.

And Ken, I am seriously tempted to get a D800. I have several AI-S lenses I think would work exceedingly well with it.

Technically it's not a very good lens, but you've shown that you can still make interesting photos with it.

Nice.
