Rose

Well, it's a very nice looking and very sharp rose. Nice color and the raindrops just give it a great finish.

Only thing I like a bit less is that it's a bit too much head-on, it almost looks 2d. You could perhaps try to give it some unexpected perspective, where you can still see the rose's beauty, but also some depth in the picture, I believe it would be even better that way. Perhaps this could be done by cropping it a bit less, so the rose doesn't get so close to the edges.

But still, welcome to the club, great shot and keep them coming!

I created a preset for Lightroom which I applied to your rose. I hope you don't mind. I wanted to show what even a kit lens could do with some PP.

Thanks every one for your comments

I'll have another look and see what I can do

"kit lens ?" Yes it is.

No I don't mind and appreciate another view point. It is interesting.Just how did you do that?

At 68 my eyes leave much to be desired, but to my mind this image shows what a great little camera the 5n is.

I also had a rose picture that was flat and boring as shot. One night I was very tired and tweaking it in Lightroom and fell asleep. I didn't even realize what I had done until the next morning. When I saw it wide awake I had to make it a preset to use again. You can further tweak the exposure and light areas to bring out even more of it's detail. Here is my rose.

Naaah, sometimes you get awards for stuff you don't intend to. I was just trying to be honest actually. I'd rather get a vote for Trying to be honest and still speak your mind Award.

Very Nice! It's always good to try a few different viewpoints and to put the main subject off centre. Example follows. I also took some full frame shots, but just did not like them that much.

I accidentally posted the following to a new thread I didn't intend creating. Darn small screen phones.
I like the bokah. Both flowers are sharp and the back ground is nicely blured.
I prefer flowers centered more often then off center.

Thanks! Everybody has different tastes. You gotta shoot what you like.
