--I'm actually thinking of getting this camera as a second body. For wedding work I use my D7000, and was using a D700, but now its gone and thinking about a D3200 just to keep small, fast primes on it, and as a backup for the D7000.
Plus, for travel just this camera and a 35mm 1.8
I bought the 3200 with that lens, initially to test the camera out. It will now be going on our month long trip to the Caribbean early next year as a take everywhere camera when we don't want to lug the 5D around.D3200 just to keep small, fast primes on it,

Seriously Larry, have you read the posts for this stupid thread?I'm actually thinking of getting this camera as a second body. For wedding work I use my D7000, and was using a D700, but now its gone and thinking about a D3200 just to keep small, fast primes on it, and as a backup for the D7000.

I started it by saying that the 32000 was good for pro work, and a picture of a girl taken with the camera.Hey, you started it, George :^)
Its a very nice camera (D3200) ......but i found that the standard lens 18-55 that came with it was a bit soft.I bought the 3200 with that lens, initially to test the camera out. I love the 3200 and am shocked how well it resolves detail, the 35 1.8 is a great lens as well

Same ol crap...nothing to do with photography.Makes a bit of since regards the OP's low cost/low feature/simple requirements.EDIT: This was supposed to be a reply in the D3200 thread, guess something got screwed up in my mobile browser when it got posted.
So I did a little digging on this 'tabloid' character, aka George Richardson.
I wouldn't recommend doing that at work, as most of what he shoots are half naked women.
He used to shoot (maybe still does) some topless stuff for the tabloid 'page 3' . For the unfamiliar, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Page_Three
These days, he shoots softcore porn for subscriber websites. Hence the need for video.
For what he's doing (some of the easiest photography in the world), he's right, the D3200 and 18-55 is a great camera.
Why? Soft core porn is just a giant softbox and f/8 to get everything sharp. All you need is a camera that does decent skin tones at default settings, and you don't even have to try. The model does all of the work (assuming she's good at her job), and the end customer doesn't give a damn about the artistic quality of the photo as long as there's good "exposure" haha. High resolution helps a lot for printing and selling website subscriptions - "we've got bigger files with better resolution of the naughty bits than that other website"
So yeah, for his kind of 'work', tabloid is correct, the D3200 is great.
Disclaimer I have a D3200 and I quite like it, mainly due to its small size and weight.
Its not doing badly though.Seriously Larry, have you read the posts for this stupid thread?I'm actually thinking of getting this camera as a second body. your sincere answer doesn't belong here.

That's quite funny. You can't, of course, be serious. There is no libel in his paragraph ... he never even mentions "you" ... he never says that "you" do soft core porn, he just discusses it in a derisive fashion. And very mild at that. You should check with a lawyer first before u put inaccurate stuff like this about people that you don't know in writing. Why? It's not publicity. And he is not skating on any kind of ice because he mentions no specific person at all.I appreciate the publicity, but u could be skating on thin ice.
Puerile, tediously repetitive, and dull.Same ol crap...nothing to do with photography.

Are you aware that default settings in a jpeg engine are just one way of shooting the camera? You are in fact allowed to augment them in one of three ways:My impression is that this camera produces in general rather soft pictures at base ISO, which is what kept me from purchasing one so far. Nex7 (whether or not it has the same sensor) makes tack sharp pictures at low ISO, but looses out with increasing ISO against D3200 due to very heavy chroma noise. I´m hoping for a D5200 this year....
You are 100% correct in what u say about film cameras. In film days a pro spec camera made no difference whatsoever to image quality. With digital there are currently differences between sensors and the way images are captured and processed to the cards - but those differences are reducing.
Its the other features regarding handling and longevity which determine the value of a camera. The best camera for a particular user or subject isn't always down to image quality, whether amateur or pro.
Take the D800, arguably the best image quality available in any dslr. It suits an amateur with a no money no object approach, but its not going to attract many pro sports shooters. Its just not fast enough. Nor will they be queueing for a plastic bodied camera that will fall apart after a few months heavy use. A war photographer may find that camera perfect, they may favour a camera that can be considered disposable. The 5DII became a fave in the film industry as a cheap camera to put in destruction scenes as the main cameras cost 10 times as much.

You need to get a grip ... and by the way, empty (stupid) threats have nothing to do with photography, just in case you forgot your own mantra ...

Why are u running this person (hjs) down.....what he said was NOT ridiculous .Are you aware that default settings in a jpeg engine are just one way of shooting the camera? And of course 1&2 as a variant.
- Change the jpeg settings
- post process the jpeg output
- shoot RAW and process that
The point being that it is ridiculous to make a statement on two cameras render images where sharpness is concerned, since the number of variables in the image output is near infinity.
